Wolves midfielder Tommy Ill joins Birmingham City on loan

Wolves officially announced that midfielder Tommy Doyle will play for Championship team Birmingham City on loan for one year in the 2025-26 season.

The 23-year-old former England youth international aims to gain more stable game time through this loan and further improve his competitive state.

Doyle came from Manchester City's youth training system. He showed outstanding potential in his early years and was loaned to Hamburg, Cardiff City and Sheffield United.

In the 2023-24 season, Doyle joined Wolves on loan, quickly integrated into the team and got regular appearances in the Premier League, playing 30 games in all competitions and completing his first full Premier League season in his career.

With his outstanding performance, Doyle officially transferred to Wolves in the summer of 2024 and became a regular member of the first team last season. In the away game against Brighton in the English League Cup, he not only wore the captain's armband, but also scored a wonderful long shot.

Doyle's goal against Brentford in the FA Cup earlier was even nominated for the "Best Goal" of the season, which was very impressive.
