Callum Wilson praised West Ham United for a crucial victory at the London Stadium as they came from behind to beat Burnley 3-2. Burnley took the lead when Zion Fleming opened the scoring for the visitors in the 35th minute. However, Callum Wilson appeared in the perfect position to score two goals in nine minutes, leveling the score and putting his team ahead.  

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo cleverly utilized substitutes, with Thomas Soucek and Kyle Walker-Peters coming on to give his team a two-goal lead. Burnley kept the game suspenseful until the final whistle thanks to a crucial goal from academy player Josh Cullen, but West Ham United ultimately held on for the victory, achieving their first consecutive wins in the Premier League since February.  

Callum Wilson has been in excellent form for West Ham United this season, and he was very pleased with his contribution in this match. He scored his 90th Premier League goal of his career, and his 8th in 13 appearances against Burnley.  

Callum Wilson said: “Today’s victory was crucial, and the three points are invaluable. We need to catch up with the teams ahead of us, which is a tough task and won’t be easy. We knew we had to give our all like we did last week and show good team spirit, which we did when we were behind. For me personally, it felt fantastic to score. I want to score as many goals as possible for the club while moving closer to my personal goals.”  

"I think it's mainly a matter of anticipation. As a striker, you never want to stand still in the penalty area. If the ball falls to your feet and you're not ready to shoot or react in time, you might miss a scoring opportunity. If the ball hits the goalkeeper, the post, or like this time it hits a defender, my position is ideal and I have a chance to score. Every time you're on the field, you want to score, but the most important thing is for the team to get three points. As a striker, to achieve that, you have to be selfless."  

“You have to run, you have to give it your all. In this situation, players feel the pressure, but they have to persevere. The key is to try to create opportunities for the team and get playing time for yourself. Whenever I'm on the field, I give it my all, which is why I've been injured so many times.”  

Callum Wilson also praised West Ham United's team effort, saying the team displayed a high overall level. With goals from two substitutes securing the victory, Wilson revealed he felt Kyle Walker-Peters was destined to score against Burnley.  

He added: "The key is that goals shouldn't rely solely on strikers or attacking players. Everyone is contributing, which is a positive sign for the future. Especially considering where we are now, we know we have enough strength on the wings and up front to influence the outcome of games."  

“I told Kyle Walker-Peters beforehand that he would score today because he was on the bench, and sometimes I can get a feeling about things. Anyway, I’m very happy with the result. We’ll rest for a few days, get back into shape, and then move on.”
