Brentford announced on its official website on Tuesday that former Liverpool legendary captain, England international midfielder Jordan Henderson has joined the club as a free agent after leaving Ajax.

According to Brentford's official statement, Henderson has signed on a short-term two-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027. He will wear the No. 6 jersey which was vacated by the team's former captain Christian Nørgaard after he had moved to Arsenal.

After completing his joining procedures, Henderson, who was interviewed by the Brentford official website for the first time, said: "I am very happy to be here. I am very excited to start a new life and move forward."

"I have always admired this club and what they have achieved in the past few years, especially their growth as a club."

"I heard that this club is well-organized, well-managed and very family-oriented, which I think is very important."

"When I spoke to Phil Giles, Lee Dykes and Keith Andrews, I felt very good about everything. As soon as the conversation ended, I knew clearly that I wanted to come here, and in the end the decision was easy to make."

This transfer also means that Henderson will return to play in the Premier League again after 2 years.

About Jordan Henderson

The 33-year-old Henderson was born in Sunderland, England on June 17, 1990. He is 1.82 meters tall and primarily plays as a center midfielder, but he can also play as a defensive midfielder or right midfielder. Enthusiastic about public welfare and community service, he was awarded the Member Order of the British Royal Family in 2021.

Henderson joined the Sunderland youth academy at the age of 8 and made his first-team debut by coming as a substitute in the Premier League match against Chelsea in November 2008, during which time he was also loaned-out to Coventry City.

During his one-and-a-half-year spell with de Godenzoonen, Henderson has played 57 times for the Eredivisie giants in all competitions, scored 1 goal, assisted 9 times, and reached the KNVB Cup, Europa League and UEFA Conference League round of 16s once each with the club.
