Juventus announced on Monday that they have extended the contract of American midfielder Weston McKennie. The new contract extends the original summer expiry date by four years, until June 30, 2030.
For Juventus, this contract extension is a crucial step in maintaining midfield stability. McKennie's salary has also seen a significant increase, with his annual wage expected to rise from €3.2 million to €4 million.
The 27-year-old McKennie was born in Lewisburg, Washington, and received his early training at Phoenix Artherbach, FC Dallas, and Schalke 04. He made his Bundesliga debut for Schalke on May 20, 2017, and quickly became a key member of the team.
In September 2020, McKennie joined Juventus on a loan-to-buy deal. Although he was briefly loaned to Leeds United in the first half of 2023, he still won the trust of the manager and fans after returning to Juventus.
To date, McKennie has made 220 appearances for Juventus, contributing 26 goals and 26 assists. His most notable achievements during this period include winning two Coppa Italia titles and one Italian Super Cup with the team.
