Everton announced on its official website on Monday that it has signed England U21s international winger wonderkid Tyler Dibling from Southampton.
According to Everton's official statement, Dibling has signed on a long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029. He will also wear the number 20 jersey, which was previously worn by French striker Neal Maupay.
In addition, according to The Athletic's resident renowned English transfer journalist David Ornstein, the Toffees paid the Saints a transfer fee of £40 million, with Southampton eligible to receive a sell-on clause.
After completing his joining procedures, Dibling, who was interviewed by the Everton official website for the first time, said: "I couldn't wait to sign. I had a good feeling about the club long before I even stepped onto the pitch, just from social media and people telling me about the club. I've never been more eager to play football and I'm ready."
"I think this is a perfect choice because the club is in such a great place right now. Obviously, with the new stadium, the fans are amazing and it feels like home. I feel like it's a perfect fit and it was a no-brainer to join."
"I feel like I'm coming to Everton at the perfect time and hopefully I can be here for many years."
"That win against Brighton was a great moment for me." It gave me a new appreciation for the club; the game looked fantastic. I also attended the last men's match at Goodison Park. It was a bustling crowd. I looked around and thought, 'This is fantastic!' It really gave me a deep appreciation for the fans and the atmosphere they create."
"There's no better feeling than performing well on a football pitch, and feeling the love of the fans is one of the best. I'm so happy to be playing here."
About Tyler Dibling
The 19-year-old Dibling was born on February 17, 2006, in Exeter, England. He primarily plays as a right winger, but can also play as a center forward or attacking midfielder. His father, Sam, is a former non-league player.
Dibling played for the youth academies of non-league clubs Axminster Town and Millwey Town as a child. He joined Southampton's youth academ yat the age of five and later played for his hometown club, Exeter City.
At the age of eight, Dibling returned to Southampton's youth academy. In July 2022, he joined Chelsea's youth academy, but due to difficulty adapting there, he returned to Southampton's youth academy for a third time two months later and completed his Southampton first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in a Carabao Cup match the following August.
Since his debut, despite Southampton's dismal performances, Dibling has garnered considerable praise for his outstanding individual performances.
During his two-year spell with the Saints, Dibling made 44 appearances for Southampton in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing three assists. Unfortunately, he was unable to help the club avoid relegation from the Premier League last season.
