According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Saturday, Cole Anthony has reached a buyout agreement with the Memphis Grizzlies. Sources said he will sign a one-year contract with the Milwaukee Bucks after the clarification period.
With the buyout agreement reached, the Grizzlies not only successfully cleared the salary space, but also created conditions for the subsequent maximum salary renewal of Jaren Jackson Jr. They had just sent Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Cole Anthony, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and multiple first-round picks.
Anthony, 25, plays as a point guard and was selected by the Orlando Magic with the 15th pick in the first round in 2020. As of this summer, he was traded to the Grizzlies and has played 320 regular season games for the Magic, averaging 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 41.9% and a three-point shooting percentage of 34.5%.
Anthony also played in 12 playoff games for the Grizzlies, averaging 3.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 30.9% and a three-point shooting percentage of 10.5%.
In the regular season last season, Anthony played 67 times for the Grizzlies, averaging 9.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. In the playoffs, he played five games in a row, averaging 2.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
