Leverkusen striker Patrick Schick talked about the new head coach Erik Ten Hag in an interview, saying that Ten Hag has high demands on the players and believes that the team will achieve outstanding results under the leadership of the head coach.

In the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, Leverkusen finished second with 19 wins, 12 draws and 3 losses, and Patrick Schick scored 21 goals for the "Pharmaceutical Factory" that season.

With the departure of Xabi Alonso, Ten Hag, who had coached Premier League giants Manchester United, was appointed as the new head coach of Leverkusen in May.

"The coach knows exactly what he wants from the team and he has won some titles in the past so he knows what he is doing," said 29-year-old Patrick Schick.

"He demands a lot from us and always asks us to play with a high intensity. He also knows exactly where he wants me to play, how he wants me to approach the game and where I can play."

Patrick Schick continued, "From my point of view, Boniface and I should have played together more often, especially last season. We each have different characteristics, and I believe this combination will work well."

On the other hand, Jonathan Tah, who played for Leverkusen for a period of time, joined Bayern Munich at the end of May, while Frimpong and Wirtz joined Liverpool coached by Sloter successively, so midfielder Xhaka's future in Leverkusen has received a lot of attention.

Ten Hag said: "The club has already let go of three important players and we don't want to lose any more players. Xhaka is a leader and he still has three years left on his contract with the team."

"Xhaka is a very important player for us. He originally signed a five-year contract and now has three years left. He is really important to us."
