Real Sociedad forced Elche into a late 1-1 draw on the matchday 12 of the La Liga match of the 2025/26 season at Estadio Martínez Valero on Friday.

In the first half, Mendoza's long-range shot hit the post. In the second half, Rodríguez slotted the ball into the net. At a crucial moment, Oyarzabal converted a penalty. Ultimately, Real Sociedad secured a 1-1 draw away to Elche. After this round of matches, Elche temporarily sits in 9th place on the table with 15 points; Txuri-Urdin is currently in 14th place with 13 points.

First Half

In the 25th minute, Sergio Gómez crossed into the box from the left wing. Takefusa Kubo quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, half-volleyed with his left foot from the right side of the box, but his shot was saved by Matías Dituro.

Shortly after, Josan passes horizontally from the right wing. Rodrigo Mendoza quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before taking a right-footed  long shot from the edge of the penalty area. Unfortunately, his shot struck the bottom left of the post and bounced off. Elche missed a golden opportunity to break the deadlock!

In the 31st minute, Josan delivered a low cross into the box from the byline at right wing. Rafa Mir quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, strucked the ball with his right foot at a very close distance in the box, but his shot went just wide of the bottom right corner of the post.

In the 44th minute, Carlos Soler headed the ball across from the left wing, Mikel Oyarzabal quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the right side of the box before volleying with his right foot, but his shot was saved by Dituro.

At halftime, Elche and Real Sociedad temporarily enter the break with a 0-0 draw.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 57th minute, Álvaro Núñez crossed into the box from the right wing. Álvaro Rodríguez stopped the ball and before slotting it into the top left corner of the net with his left foot, giving Elche a 1-0 lead!

In the 88th minute, Umar Sadiq dribbled into the center of the box and was brought down by David Affengruber. The referee immediately blow his whistle and awarded Real Sociedad a penalty!

Oyarzabal converted the penalty with his left foot, leveling the score late at 1-1 for Real Sociedad against Elche! This is the Spain international striker's fourth goal in three consecutive matches!

When the final whistle is blown, Real Sociedad secured a dramatic late 1-1 away draw against Elche.
