Lens defeated Lyon with a suprise late 1-2 away win on matchday 32 of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season at the Groupama Stadium on Sunday.

In the first half, Koyalipou pushed the ball into the net from close range. In the second half, Mikautadze scored with a header. At the critical moment, Zaroury scored a wonder goal from a long shot. In the end, Lyon fall to a shock 1-2 loss against Lens. After this round of games, Les Gones is temporarily 7th on the table with 54 points; Lens is temporarily 8th with 48 points.

First Half

In the 14th minute, Malick Fofana crossed into the box from the byline at the left wing. Rayan Cherki quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his left foot from the right side of the box, but his shot was saved by Mathew Ryan.

7 minutes later, Lens got a deadly corner kick opportunity. Neil El Aynaoui took the corner by crossing it into the box. After stopping the ball, Goduine Koyalipou pushed the ball into the bottom right corner of the net from a very close distance in the box with his right foot. Lens broke the deadlock first to take a 0-1 lead! This is Koyalipou's third goal in his last 5 matches!

In the 35th minute, Georges Mikautadze passes back from the left side of the box. Cherki quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before volleying with his left foot from the byline at the left side of the box, but his shot was saved by Ryan.

10 minutes later, Cherki passes horizontally from the left side of the box. Nicolás Tagliafico quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his left foot from the center of the box, but his shot went just slightly wide of the upper left corner of the post.

At the end of the first half, Lyon temporarily trailed Lens by 0-1 and entered the half-time break.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 69th minute, Thiago Almada passes back from the front. Clinton Mata quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, took a long shot with his right foot from outside the penalty area, but his shot flew high out of the pitch.

10 minutes later, Mata crossed into the box from the right wing. and Georges Mikautadze rose high and scored with a header in the box.  Lyon equalized Lens at 1-1! This is the Georgia international striker's 7th goal in 2025 alone!

In the 82nd minute, Fofana crossed into the box from the byline at the left wing. Mikautadze quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his left foot from the center of the box, but his shot went just slightly wide of the bottom left corner of the post.

3 minutes later, Adrien Tomasson passes horizontally from the left wing. Anass Zaroury got the ball and took a few steps before taking a long shot with his right foot from 35 yards outside the penalty area. The ball flew into the upper right corner of the net, turning it into a wonder goal and leaving Lucas Perri out of reach! Lens secured the victory at 1-2!

When the final whistle is blown, Lens suprisingly beaten Lyon with a late 1-2 away win. It is worth mentioning that this is Lens' 8th away win this season.
