Manchester City comeback and thrashed Crystal Palace 5-2 on matchday 32 of the 2024/25 Premier League season at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

In the first half, Eze pushed the ball into the empty net from close range, Richards scored with a header, De Bruyne's free kick hit the wall and deflected into the net and Marmoush scored with a close-range volley. In the second half, Kovačić scored with a long shot, McAtee volleyed into the net from a difficult angle, and O'Reilly scored with a half-volley. In the end, Manchester City comeback and thrashed Crystal Palace 5-2. After this round of games, the Cityzens temporarily rose to the fourth on the table with 55 points; the Eagles temporarily slipped to 12th place with 43 points.

First Half

In the 8th minute, Ismaïla Sarr crossed into the box from the right wing. Eberechi Eze quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, pushed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net from a very close distance in the box with his right foot. Crystal Palace broke the deadlock to a 0-1 lead!

In the 21st minute, Crystal Palace got a corner kick opportunity. Adam Wharton took the corner by crossing it into the box. Chris Richards rose high and scored with a header in the box. Crystal Palace expanded its lead to 0-2!

3 minutes later, Ilkay Gündogan passes horizontally from the front. Kevin De Bruyne stopped the ball and adjusted his angle before taking a long shot from outside the penalty area with his right foot. The ball was initially blocked off not far away by Tyrick Mitchell. After picking up the loose ball, De Bruyne and shot with his right foot from outside the penalty area. Unfortunately, his shot hit the left post and bounced off. Manchester City missed a golden opportunity to pull a goal back!

In the 28th minute, Daniel Muñoz passes horizontally from the right wing. Eze quickly followed up, got the ball, then dribbled and cuts into the center of the box before volleying the ball into the bottom right corner of the net with his right foot. However, the linesman immediately raised his flag, and the VAR assistant referee also intervened. Under the identification of the VAR Semi-Automated Offside System (SAOT), the refereeing team unanimously ruled that Eze was caught offside, hence the goal was ruled out!

5 minutes later, Manchester City got a free kick opportunity. De Bruyne took the free kick and shot directly from outside the penalty area with his right foot. The ball hit the wall and then deflected into the bottom left corner of the net. Manchester City pulled a goal back at 1-2!

In the 36th minute, Gündogan passes horizontally from the center of the box. Omar Marmoush quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, half-volleyed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net with his right foot from the center of the box. Manchester City scored two goals in 3 minutes and equalized Crystal Palace at 2-2! This is the sixth goal which the Egypt international striker has scored in the Premier League after joining the Cityzens in January!

At the end of the first half, Manchester City and Crystal Palace temporarily drew 2-2 when they entered the half-time break.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 47th minute, De Bruyne passes the ball back horizontally from the center of the box. Mateo Kovačić quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, took a long shot with his right foot from the edge of the penalty area. The ball flew straight into the bottom left corner of the net. Manchester City overtook Crystal Palace by 3-2!

9 minutes later, Ederson made a long pass in his own back half. After successfully beating the offside trap, James McAtee quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the right side of the box past the outrushing Dean Henderson before volleying the ball into the bottom right corner of the net  with his left foot at a difficult angle. Manchester City expanded its lead to 4-2! This is the Brazil international goalkeeper's seventh assist in his Manchester City career!

In the 79th minute, McAtee passes horizontally from the right side of the box. The ball was initially headed and cleared off not far away by Richards. After picking up the loose ball, Nico O'Reilly volleyed the ball into the lower left corner of the net with his left foot from the center of the box. Manchester City secured the victory at 5-2!
