Unai Emery admitted that his side were frustrated and disappointed after losing to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final. Aston Villa had reached the FA Cup semi-finals but lost 3-0 to Crystal Palace at Wembley.
After the game, Unai Emery's first thought was for the fans, before moving on to the bigger picture for the team and the progress he has made during his tenure.
Unai Emery said: "I'm sorry for the support of the fans. We were motivated and wanted to share wonderful moments with the fans in the semi-final. However, we have to accept this defeat because Crystal Palace did perform very well and we did not perform to our previous level."
"We've raised our standards and our demands by playing in European competitions, last year's league and this year's Champions League and FA Cup. We should be happy with the progress we've made here and how quickly we've grown."
"We are disappointed and frustrated by this defeat, but we must overcome these difficult moments as soon as possible, keep moving forward and stay positive. We must readjust our goals because the Premier League is our most important task at the moment. Only through performance in the Premier League can we ensure the opportunity to continue to compete in European competitions next year."
"We missed the chance to win the Champions League and missed it again today, but we have to keep working hard. Only one team can win in the end and playing in European competitions continuously is my goal when I came here and it is my priority."
“We will try to improve, especially next week at home against Fulham, and we need the support of every fan, to be close to us, to give us strength and help us to perform at our best in the next four games.”
