In the 26th round of La Liga, Real Madrid failed to secure all three points at home, suffering a disappointing 0-1 defeat to Getafe.
After the match, Real Madrid manager Álvaro Arbeloa spoke to the media in the Bernabéu press conference room. Facing the current precarious situation of trailing the league leaders by four points, Arbeloa focused on reviewing the game and the team's future mentality.
When discussing his feelings after the match, Arbeloa faced the frustration of the defeat head-on: "I know that after experiencing a loss like today, the outlook looks very bleak, even hopeless. But there are still 36 points to fight for in the league, and our only goal is to do everything we can to get all 36 points."
Arbeloa emphasized that there is no such thing as surrendering early in Real Madrid's dictionary, and the four-point gap can definitely be closed. He also took responsibility for the loss: "I would never criticize the players' fighting spirit today; their effort was impeccable. If we couldn't do better, that's my responsibility."
Regarding the match against Getafe, Arbeloa believes the result does not accurately reflect the situation on the field. He pointed out that Real Madrid attacked relentlessly from the start, creating far more scoring opportunities than their opponents.
Vinicius's missed one-on-one chance in the first half, and Rudiger and Rodrygo's missed opportunities in the second half, cost the team dearly. "I think we deserved the goal, but football isn't just about whether you deserve it or not," Arbeloa said helplessly.
Despite the disappointment, Arbeloa still praised the opponent's performance, admitting that Getafe played their usual high-quality defense and that all the difficulties were within the team's expectations, but Real Madrid failed to seize their own opportunities.
