Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, exclusively reported Thursday that Orlando City is interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur's Brazil international forward Richarlison.
According to Romano, Orlando City management's officials has flown to London to meet with Richarlison's representatives to express their interest in signing him and outline their future plans for Richarlison and the club.
Currently, no agreement has been reached, and Orlando City has not submitted a formal offer to Spurs. However, the club is expected to send representatives to meet with Richarlison and Spurs' sporting director, Fabio Paratici, in person again soon.
According to sources, Romano stated that Orlando City currently plans to make a formal offer to Spurs during the January 2026 transfer window and sign Richarlison as a Designated Player (DP) for the club's next season transfer plans.
The MLS club also believes that Richarlison's potential arrival could create some impact to the club's and the nation's football scene, as the United States will be one of the host countries for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
However, Romano added that Spurs has no intention of selling Richarlison anytime soon and has not even placed a price tag on the player, making it impossible to predict at this point what amount Orlando City would have to offer to convince Spurs to sell the Brazilian.
If the transfer goes through, Richarlison is expected to not only become Orlando City's most expensive player in history, but also potentially break the Major League Soccer (MLS) transfer record.
He would also become the fourth player to leave Tottenham Hotspur for MLS in recent years, following Hugo Loos, Gareth Bale, and Son Heung-min.
