The fourth round of the 2025/26 English League Cup will begin, with Fulham away to League One side Wycombe. Marco Silva stated at a press conference that his team will never underestimate any opponent and emphasized that their preparations and mentality will remain unchanged.
In the 9th round of the Premier League earlier, Fulham equalized the score with Sasha Lukic's goal after leading by one goal, but conceded again in the final moments and eventually lost to Newcastle 1-2 at St. James' Park.
Fulham is currently ranked 12th in the Premier League standings with 12 points and will host Wolves at home in the next round.
Fulham manager Marco Silva said: "After the game against Newcastle, we started talking about this game immediately. But as others thought, the team's mood was low at the time. At the end of my speech in the locker room, I began to guide everyone to focus on the English League Cup and the subsequent game against Wolves."
“First and foremost, we never underestimate any opponent. We know what this tournament means to us, and for our opponents as well. It’s always an opportunity. For us, it’s a chance to continue to advance in this tournament, to get to the later stages, even the final stage. For Wycombe, it’s also a big opportunity to put themselves in the spotlight on day two, on TV and in the newspapers.”
In addition, Marco Silva also stressed, "We are well aware of this, so we must take it very seriously. But this is no different from the way we prepared in the League Cup before. We will prepare like we prepare for the Premier League game and we must show our strength on the court."
"The opponents will be incredibly passionate and we have to show the same passion and fighting spirit and why we can compete in the Premier League."
