The Dallas Mavericks announced Thursday that they have finalized a contract extension with P.J. Washington. ESPN's Shams Charania previously reported that the two sides agreed to a four-year, $90 million contract.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, P.J. Washington's annual salary this season will reach $14.1 million. After completing the contract extension, he will play for the Mavericks until the 2029/30 season.

Washington, a 27-year-old forward, was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 12th overall pick in the 2019 draft. He spent the first four and a half seasons with the Hornets, appearing in 304 games and averaging 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 block per game while shooting 45.0% from the field and 35.9% from three-point range .

In February 2024, Washington was sent to the Dallas Mavericks in a trade involving Seth Curry and Grant Williams. So far, he has played 86 games for the Mavericks in the regular season, averaging 13.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, with a shooting percentage of 44.3% and a three-point shooting percentage of 35.3%.

Washington also played in 22 playoff games for the Mavericks, averaging 13.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 42.7% and a three-point shooting percentage of 34.8%.
