According to Fabrizio Romano on Friday, Liverpool manager Arne Sloot is not currently in danger of being sacked.
The 47-year-old Slaughter has managed several teams, including Cambuur, AZ Alkmaar, and Feyenoord, leading them to one Eredivisie title and one Dutch Cup. He succeeded Jürgen Klopp as Liverpool manager in July 2024 and led the team to the Premier League title in his first season in charge.
However, Sloot has failed to replicate his initial managerial performance: Liverpool have had a poor start to the season, sitting seventh in the Premier League with 15 points from 5 wins and 4 losses after 9 rounds. They have also struggled in cup competitions, losing to Crystal Palace in both the Community Shield final and the fourth round of the League Cup.
Despite this, Liverpool have not considered sacking Arne Sloot as manager. In response to speculation about a change in management, Romano stated clearly in his video column: "I can assure you that Liverpool are very happy with Arne Sloot. The club is well aware of the difficult situation we are in, for several reasons. We shouldn't forget what Liverpool went through this summer. It was a tough summer for the club. They brought in several players and tried to adjust the team's tactical style. Since the players have only been with the club for a few months, it will take time for them to integrate into the system."
Romano further pointed out: "In any case, Liverpool have always placed great faith in Arne Sloth. Within the club, they believe Sloth is the best person to solve the current predicament. Although the start of the season has been less than ideal, it is by no means the end of the world. Liverpool still has time to regroup and get back on track, and they are confident that Arne Sloth is the right person to achieve this goal."
"Liverpool are doing everything they can to turn things around. Everyone at the club – from the owners, board, management, to the players who have a good relationship with Sloth – is convinced that Sloth is the best person to take the helm."
"Currently, there is no need to discuss changing managers. The club believes the situation is completely under control, but more victories are still needed. We know that football is a results-oriented industry, but Liverpool has not yet initiated any alternative plans."
