Torino announced on their official website on Sunday that the club have parted ways with its Dutch defender Perr Schuurs.

According to Torino's official statement, everyone at the club is very grateful for Schuurs' contributions to the team both on and off the pitch and wishes him all the best for the future.

The termination of Schuurs' contract is truly regrettable. This once highly regarded former Netherlands U21s international defender was considered a potential successor to Matthijs de Ligt and Sven Botman. However, after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in 2023, the injury proved irreparable, preventing him from ever playing again and ruining his promising future.

It's worth mentioning that this website's infamously notorious female rumour monger "Ms. Hype Up", falsely claimed in 2023 that Liverpool and West Ham United were "interested" in signing Schuurs. However, the player was already seriously injured and facing a long-term absence at that time, so this "news" was entirely fabricated by her, yet she dared to shift the blame to Gianluca Di Marchio and Tuttosport!

About Perr Schuurs

The 22-year-old Schuurs was born on November 26, 1999, in Newstadt, Netherlands. He is 1.91 meters tall and plays as a center back.

Schuurs joined Fortuna Sittard's youth academy at a young age and completed his Fortuna Sittard first-team debut in October 2016.

At the start of the 2017/18 season, the then 17-year-old Schuurs was unexpectedly appointed captain of Fortuna Sittard. He later scored his first-team goal against Ajax's reserve team, attracting the attention of their scouts.

In January 2018, Ajax finally bought out Schuurs's rights, but he didn't immediately join his new club, instead remaining on-loan at Fortuna Sittard to complete the 2017/18 season.

After officially joining Ajax that summer, Schuurs was initially placed in the reserve team to develop his skills until October, when he completed his Ajax first-team debut by coming on as a substitute.

Starting the 2020/21 season, Schuurs officially became a regular starter for Ajax.

During his time at de Godenzonen, he won two Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Cup titles, and one Johan Cruyff Shield (Dutch Super Cup) with the club.

In August 2022, Schuurs joined Torino for €9 million.

Unfortunately, he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in October of the following year, preventing him from playing again.

During his three-and-a-half-year spell at I Granata, Schuurs made 43 appearances for the Serie A club in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.
