Brighton announced on its official website on Tuesday that the club has triggered the automatic extension option for its Ghana international defender Tariq Lamptey.

According to Brighton's official statement, Lamptey's contract will be automatically extended for one year, and his new contract will run until the summer of 2026.

About Tariq Lamptey

The 24-year-old Lamptey was born in London, England on September 30, 2000. He is 1.63 meters tall and primarily plays as a right-wing back. He can also play as a left-wing back. He has dual British and Ghanaian nationality.

Lamptey joined Chelsea's youth academy at the age of 8 and completed his Chelsea first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in December 2019.

On the winter transfer window deadline day of the following year, Lamptey moved to Brighton for £2.97 million.

Since becoming a member of the Seagulls, Lamptey has played 122 times for the Premier League powerhouse in all competitions, scoring 5 goals and providing 13 assists. During which, he has reached the FA Cup semi-finals twice and the UEFA Europa League Round of 16s once with the club.
