Chelsea announced on their official website on Friday that they have extended the contract of captain, England international right-back Reece James.
According to Chelsea's official statement, James has signed on a new long-term six-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2032.
After completing his contract extension, James, who was interviewed by the Chelsea official website again, said: "I am very happy to have renewed my contract. Chelsea means a lot to me."
"I've always said that I hope to spend my prime years here, and I firmly believe we have everything we need to build on our past successes."
"I am very excited about the future of the team under the leadership of the current owners, sporting director, coaches, and the entire staff, and I hope that we can win more trophies together in the coming years."
About Reece James
The 26-year-old James was born on December 8, 1999, in Redbridge, England. He is 1.79 meters tall, he primarily plays as a right back, but can also play as a center-back or right midfielder. He holds English, Grenada, and Dominican citizenship. His sister, Lauren, is an England international forward who is also plays for Chelsea.
James joined Chelsea's youth academy at the age of six, briefly transferred to Fulham's youth academy the following year, returned to Chelsea's youth academy at the age of eight, and was promoted to Chelsea's first-team in the summer of 2018.
In July of the same year, James was loaned-out to Wigan Athletic, where his outstanding performances helped the club avoid relegation.
Upon returning to the club the following summer after his loan spell, James completed his Chelsea first-team debut at the end of September 2019. He subsequently became a key player for the Blues, earning his status as Chelsea's new captain in the summer of 2023.
Since his debut, James has made 225 appearances for the Premier League giants in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 31 assists. During which he has won one UEFA Champions League title, one UEFA Conference League title, one UEFA Super Cup title, and two FIFA Club World Cup titles with the club, as well as reaching the FA Cup final three times and the League Cup final once.
