Leicester City sign Asmir Begovic on a one-year contract

Leicester City Football Club has officially confirmed the signing of experienced goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. It is reported that the two sides have reached an agreement on a one-year contract, and the deal still needs to be approved by the league before it can take effect.

The 38-year-old goalkeeper will play for Everton in the 2024-25 season, having previously played for Queens Park Rangers under current Leicester City manager Matti Cifuentes. He played in all 46 matches for the London club in the 2023-24 season, demonstrating his consistency and experience.

Asmir Begovic said: "I am really excited and it is an honor to join such a great club. I can't wait to get on the pitch and hope to bring some leadership and experience to the team. With many years of professional career, I believe I can make a positive contribution to the overall strength of the team."

“Whatever the team needs me to do and whatever the manager has planned, I will give my all. This club deserves all the success they are striving for. For me, the most important thing is to contribute to the team in the best way I can and I am looking forward to doing that.”

"I'm really excited. It's not every day that a club of Leicester's stature extends an olive branch and invites you to join. I hope we can have an exciting season, challenge for the top of the table, try to get promoted and get this club back to where it belongs."

"Whether it's the players, the coaching staff, the staff, or the overall team setup, everything is in place for us to succeed together."

In addition, Asmir Begovic said that he is very much looking forward to working with the goalkeepers in the current squad, and he has long had full respect and recognition for the team.

He said: "I am actually very familiar with the team's goalkeeping group, especially Mas Hermansson and Jakub Stolarczyk, as well as Steve Bouthol and those young players who are growing up."

"I'm really looking forward to training with them. I'll do my best to share my experience and leadership, and I'll be happy to offer advice whenever they need it. We'll improve together and set the standard every day. We're all striving to get better every day, and I really feel like these young players have so much potential. They're still in their development stages, but their future is definitely limitless. If I can help, I'll do my best."

"Looking at the squad, the overall strength is self-evident. I've played against many of these players on the pitch for many years, and I have close personal relationships with some of them, such as Conor Coady, who I worked with at Everton. In addition, I've played in England for many years, which has allowed me to establish connections with some of the younger players."

"Over the years, I've come to understand more and more that if you want a team to win, you have to put your personal ideas aside. We play the way the head coach decides. The key is that no matter where you are placed, you must try your best to shine and do your job well."

"My goal is always to give my all and do my best in everything I do. I believe that as long as we stay united and build a positive culture and team atmosphere, we have the ability to achieve many goals. I am willing to contribute my all and give my all for the team."
