Coach Arne Slote confirmed in the post-match press conference that Isak felt groin discomfort in the first half and was forced to be substituted at halftime. He revealed that the Swedish striker has been gradually recovering his game rhythm due to the lack of a complete pre-season preparation since joining.
"We tried to get him used to the intensity of playing two games a week, which he was able to do with the national team," Slaughter said. "But this time he felt a groin pull and had to leave the field. Hopefully it's not a serious injury, otherwise he could be sidelined for a few weeks."
Regarding outside doubts about whether Isaac played in the "red zone" (risk of excessive fatigue), Slote denied it, saying: "If he was really in the red zone, we would not send him to the field.
