Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards suspended for 18th technical foul

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was given his 18th technical foul of the season for complaining about the referee, the most in NBA history, and was automatically suspended for the next game.

Midway through the second quarter, Anthony Edwards was called for a personal foul while flank-marking Brooklyn Nets' Keon Johnson. Anthony Edwards threw his arms out and gave the referee a frown before being assessed a technical foul.

According to NBA rules, any player who accumulates 16 technical fouls during the regular season will be suspended for one game, and every two additional technical fouls will trigger another suspension. The league has the right to review and revoke technical fouls. Considering that Anthony Edwards was suspended for the first time on February 28, the Minnesota Timberwolves hope to review and revoke the technical foul.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will face the Utah Jazz in their final regular season game with a chance to finish fourth in the Western Conference, but they are outside the top six and therefore cannot compete in the play-in tournament.
