Real Sociedad announced on its official website on Monday that the club has extended the contract of its Spanish defensive midfielder Jon Gorrotxategi.

According to Real Sociedad's official statement, Gorrotxategi has signed on a new long-term five-year deal which runs until the summer of 2030. In accordance with La Liga regulations, Gorrotxategi's release clause is set at €55 million.

About Jon Gorrotxategi

Jon Gorrotxategi, 23, was born on September 2, 2003, in Eibar, Spain. He is 1.77 meters tall and primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, but he can also play as a center back. He is of Basque descent.

Gorrotxategi played for the youth academy of his hometown club, Eibar, as a child. He joined Real Sociedad's youth academy in 2017 and will begin playing for the B team in 2022.

Last August, Gorrotxategi was loaned-out to Mirandés.

After returning from his loan spell this summer, Gorrotxategi completed his Real Sociedad first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in August 2025.

So far this season, Gorrotxategi has made 7 appearances for the La Liga powerhouse in all competitions, and has yet to register a goal or assist.
