Rozier may be forced to stay in the team due to the cold trading market

On August 21st, according to a report by Five Reasons Sports Network reporter Ethan J. Skolnick, the Heat are actively trading veteran guard Terry Rozier. The team's primary goal is to exchange for some frontcourt depth, but they have not yet found a suitable trading partner.
Rozier, now 31, played in 64 games for the Heat in the 2024-25 season , starting 23 of them. At the start of the season, he was the primary point guard in coach Erik Spoelstra's system. However, as the season progressed, Rozier's role was gradually reduced, and he was essentially relegated to the bench for the final three months. While he still contributed 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in limited playing time , this was clearly disproportionate to the salary the team was paying him.
According to the terms of his contract, Rozier 's salary for the 2025-26 season will be between $24 million and $26 million, depending on various incentives. This salary seems excessive given his current production. Early in the 2023-24 season, Rozier averaged over 20 points per game, but a decline in form has raised questions about whether he can ever return to that level.
Skolnick 's report bluntly stated that the Heat would be willing to trade Rozier in almost any deal, highlighting the team's eagerness to clear salary cap space. However, the reality is not optimistic. As of now, Miami has not been able to reach an agreement with other teams. With no market demand, the Heat may have to wait until the 2025-26 trade deadline to find a buyer for Rozier.
