Verona are pleased to confirm that Belgian defender Rafik Bergali has joined the club on a permanent basis from FC Mechelen, with his contract running until 30 June 2029.  

Born in Leuven, Belgium, Rafik Bergari is of Algerian descent and plays as a right-back. He was trained through the youth systems of clubs including Sint-Truiden, PSV Eindhoven, Lierse, Zulte-Waregem and Lommel.  

In 2023, Rafik Bergali joined Mechelen Football Club and made his Belgian First Division debut on July 30th in a match against Club Bruges, which ended in a 1-1 draw. In his first season in the Belgian top league, he made 9 appearances, contributing 2 goals and 1 assist.  

Last season, Rafik Bergari made 36 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist, while also participating in two Belgian Cup Crocchi Cup matches. At the national team level, he represented Algeria U23 and was selected for the senior national team for the first time in March 2022, participating in two friendly matches against Mauritania.
