Wolfsburg sacked head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl after heavy loss to Borussia Dortmund..

Wolfsburg announced in an official statement on Sunday that the club's Austrian head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl has been sacked effective immediately.

According to Wolfsburg's official statement, after the club lost 4-0 to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, the management decided to part ways with Hasenhüttl immediately.

In the remaining two games of this season, U19s head coach Daniel Bauer will temporarily coach the first team.

About Ralph Hasenhüttl

Hasenhüttl, 57, was born on August 9, 1967 in Graz, Austria. He is 1.91 meters tall and played as a center forward during his playing career. He was once a famous player at Austria Wien.

After retiring in 2004, Hasenhüttl was appointed as the coach of the Unterhaching youth academy, and was officially promoted to the head coach of the Unterhaching first-team in 2007.

During his coaching spell at Unterhaching, Hasenhüttl began to emerge because of his "Gegenpressing" tactics which was similar to that of former Liverpool head coach Jürgen Klopp, but was sacked in February 2010 due to stagnant results.

In January of the following year, Hasenhüttl was appointed as the head coach of VfR Aalen, during which he helped the clube win promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, but was laid off in the summer of 2013 due to the club's financial problems.

In October 2013, Hasenhüttl was appointed as the head coach of Ingolstadt, during which he led the club to win the 2. Bundesliga and then successfully avoid relegation, and once again won the reputation of "Alpine Klopp".

In the summer of 2016, Hasenhüttl was appointed as the head coach of RB Leipzig. Despite his good performances, he resigned in 2018 due to dissatisfaction with his own performances.

In December 2018, Hasenhüttl replaced Manchester United legend Mark Hughes as the Southampton manager.

As the Saints' manager, Hasenhüttl was humiliated by opponents 9-0 in the Premier League twice during his coaching spell at St. Mary's Stadium. In November 2022, he was sacked due to poor results.

In March 2024, Hasenhüttl was appointed as the head coach of Wolfsburg.

During his one-year-and-two-months-spell as Die Wölfe's head coach, Hasenhüttl coached the Bundesliga club in 44 games in all competitions, achieving 17 wins, 9 draws and 18 losses, with a win percentage of 38.64%.
