Roma announced on Friday that Gian Piero Gasperini will replace Claudio Ranieri as head coach from today. The two parties signed a three-year contract, which will be valid until June 30, 2028.
As for salary, many media reported that Gasperini's annual salary in Rome is 5 million euros. If bonuses are included, his annual income can reach up to 7 million euros.
Gasperini, 67, has coached Crotone, Genoa, Inter Milan, Palermo and Genoa, and became the head coach of Atalanta in 2016. During his tenure, he led the team to a record of 228 wins, 101 draws and 110 losses. He not only made Atalanta a Serie A powerhouse that has long been in the European war, but also led the team to win the 2024 Europa League in 2024.
After completing the signing, Gasperini said: "My first impression of Roma is very positive. Today is my first day at Trigoria (Roma training base). I was not familiar with it before, but I have to say that Trigoria has an excellent environment and complete facilities, which is very suitable for serious work."
"I chose Roma because it offers a great challenge. I needed a big challenge and to be in a passionate environment. I am very excited about the opportunity given to me by Claudio Ranieri, the club and the management. It is this adrenaline rush that drives me to pursue excellence and create brilliance."
"All the conditions are in place, with strong ownership and management. They really want to help Roma grow and reach the highest level. Add to that the arrival of Claudio Ranieri, who is very familiar to the fans and the city. The sporting director is young but very professional, and behind him is a team of scouts who I have seen firsthand, who are very dynamic and well prepared."
"The team's performance has fluctuated in recent years, but Ranieri's arrival has injected new vitality into the team and brought impressive results. Although the performance in the past few seasons has not been satisfactory, Rome is still an ideal stage for playing orthodox football while taking into account both results and viewing pleasure. This is of great significance to the development of the team."
