Christian Chivu has officially taken over as Inter Milan's first team head coach and will make his debut in the Club World Cup group match against Monterrey on June 18.

The legendary defender who won the treble with Inter Milan has now returned to the stage as a head coach to start a new challenge. At the press conference, Kivu said: "I have played for this club for more than 13 years. Whether as a player or a youth team coach, Inter Milan has always been my home in my heart."

"Despite the role change, my responsibility and passion for the team have never changed. I understand the spirit and culture of Inter Milan. This is an honor and a mission."

Faced with a tight schedule and high-intensity tasks, Kivu admitted that he quickly got into shape. He led the team to train with great concentration to prepare for the match against the Mexican powerhouse Monterrey: "This competition is unusual and brings together the world's top teams. We must go all out to win glory for Inter Milan."

Although there are no trophies to be won this season, Kivu backed the team's performance: "We beat Bayern Munich and Barcelona and were once hailed as the most threatening team in Europe. The results cannot be judged only by whether or not we lifted the trophy. What is important is the persistence and performance in the process."

Talking about the current state of the team, Kifu pointed out: "What I see is a team that is united, committed and does not shirk responsibility. They are ready to move forward, and I will fully support them."
