Auxerre announced on its official website on Wednesday that tthe club has extended the contract of its Ivorian international defender Clément Akpa.

According to Auxerre's official statement, Akpa has signed on a new three-year contract which runs until the summer of 2028.

About Clément Akpa

Akpa, 23, was born in Meudon, France on November 24, 2001. He is 1.81 meters tall and primarily plays center back, but he can also play left back. He holds dual French and Ivorian citizenship.

Akpa played for the youth academies of non-league clubs Vandoeuvre and Montrouge as a child. He joined Metz's youth academy in 2018 and began playing for the Metz reserve team the following summer.

In the summer of 2021, Akpa moved to Auxerre, initially playing for their reserve team.

In July of the following year, Akpa was loaned-out to Orleans.

Upon returning from his loan spell in the summer of 2023, Akpa was officially promoted to the Auxerre first-team and became a key player.

Since joining Auxerre, so far, Akpa has made 62 appearances for the Ligue 1 club in all competitions, providing two assists and helping them win the Ligue 2 once.
