Portland Trail Blazers officially re-signed small forward Toumani Camara to four-year $82 million contract extension..

The Portland Trail Blazers announced on their official website on Monday that they have extended the contract of its Belgian small forward Toumani Camara.

Although the Portland Trail Blazers did not specify the length of Camara's new contract in their official statement, renowned ESPN journalist Shams Charania reported that Camara has signed on a new four-year contract valued at $82 million.

After completing his contract extension procedures, Camara, who spoke to reporters again, said, "The person I want to thank most at this moment is my agent, who was negotiating with Joe (Cronin, Trail Blazers General Manager) on my behalf."

"Honestly, I was very nervous. After that phone call, I waited, I think I waited for over 20 minutes, confidently believing things would work out in the end. Now, I'm incredibly excited to have completed the contract extension and to be able to contribute more success to this great team."

Camara, 25, was born on May 8, 2000, in Brussels, Belgium. He is 2.03 meters tall and plays small forward. He is of Haitian and Malian descent.

A devoted fan of Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade since childhood, Camara played for the Belgian U16 national basketball team in secondary school years. His outstanding performances earned him a place on Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School in Florida, USA, where his coach arranged for him to attend.

There, he averaged an impressive double-double while playing for the high school team, attracting offers from 30 NCAA universities and colleges.

In October 2018, Camara chose to attend the University of Georgia and played for the varsity team.

During his rookie season, Camara, along with 2020 NBA Draft No. 1 pick Anthony "Ant-Man" Edwards, was hailed as a future star in basketball.

In April 2021, Camara transferred to the University of Dayton.

During his time there, he was selected to the All-A-10 Third Team, All-A-10 First Team, and All-A-10 Defensive Team.

In June 2023, Camara was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 52nd pick in the second round of the NBA Draft.

In September of the same year, Camara was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team trade that included the Milwaukee Bucks, Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Damian Lillard, and a 2029 first-round pick.

Last season, Camara averaged 11.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game, earning him a spot on the 2024/25 NBA All-Defensive Second Team. This marked the first time a Trail Blazers player had been named to the All-Defensive team in 21 years.
