Borussia Mönchengladbach announced on its official website on Tuesday that the club has extended the contract of its French attacking midfielder Franck Honorat.

According to Borussia Mönchengladbach's official statement, Honorat has signed on a new four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029.

After completing his contract extension procedures, Honorat, who was interviewed by the Borussia Mönchengladbach official website again, said: "I am very happy to continue this adventure with Borussia Mönchengladbach. I regard the renewal as a reward for my contribution to the club so far, and I will continue to do my best for the team."

"I have been adapting to Borussia Mönchengladbach and finding my place in the past two years. Now I feel free and confident. I feel very comfortable in this environment, surrounded by people who are very loyal and respectful to me. This is exactly what I need, which is why Borussia Mönchengladbach is the perfect club for me."

About Franck Honorat

The 28-year-old Honorat was born in Toulon, France on August 11, 1996. He is 1.80 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder. He can also play as a right winger or left winger.

At the age of 7, Honorat joined the youth academy of his hometown club Toulon, and at the age of 13, he joined the youth academy of the non-league club  Union Sportive Sanaryenne. In 2011, he joined the Nice youth academy, began playing for its B team the following year and completed his Nice first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in November 2013.

In July 2016, Honorat was loaned-out to Sochaux.

After leaving the club at the end of his contract in July of the following year, Honorat joined Clermont as a free agent.

In August 2018, Honorat moved to Saint-Etienne for €1 million, but was immediately loaned back to Clermont.

After returning to the club following the end of his loan spell in the summer of the following year, Honorat officially became a key player in the Saint-Etienne first team. During which, he reached the Coupe de France final with the club.

In July 2020, Honorat transferred to Brest for €5 million.

During his three-year spell at Brest, Honorat helped the club successfully avoid relegation.

In July 2023, Honorat joined Borussia Mönchengladbach for €9 million.

Since becoming a member Die Fohlen, Honorat has played 56 times for the Bundesliga club across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 22 assists.
