Champions League – Esteban Willian scores as Chelsea beat Barcelona 3-0


The fifth round of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League featured a highly anticipated match, with Chelsea, playing at Stamford Bridge, defeating La Liga champions Barcelona 3-0 thanks to an own goal, as well as goals from Estewan Willian and Liam Delap.


Four minutes into the game, Chelsea attacked from a corner kick. Enzo received a pass back from Wesley Fofana in the penalty area and fired a shot into the net. However, after VAR intervention, the referee ruled that Wesley Fofana had committed a handball foul earlier, so the goal was disallowed.

In the 22nd minute, Chelsea took a free kick, and Enzo rushed forward to head the ball into the goal. However, after VAR intervention, the referee pointed out that Chalobah had interfered with Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia, so the goal was disallowed.


In the 27th minute, Chelsea launched an attack from a corner kick. Cucurella received the ball and crossed it into the box. Pedro Neto's shot was inadvertently deflected by Barcelona defender Koundé into his own net, giving Chelsea a 1-0 lead. In the 30th minute, near the edge of the penalty area, Reece James received a pass back from Gusto and unleashed a long-range shot, but the ball went over the post.


In the 44th minute, Cucurella was tackled by Araujo while vying for possession, resulting in Araujo receiving his second yellow card and being sent off. Barcelona were left with only 10 players to continue.


At the start of the second half, Barcelona substituted Rashford for Ferran Torres. In the 51st minute, Ganacho received a through ball from Enzo and then crossed it to Andre Santos, who followed up with a low shot that found the net. However, the linesman ruled that Ganacho was offside, and the goal was disallowed.


In the 55th minute, Reece James played a through ball to Esteban Willian, who broke into the penalty area and slotted the ball into the net, extending Chelsea's lead over Barcelona to 2-0. In the 62nd minute, Barcelona substituted Rafinha for Lewandowski. In the 69th minute, Pedro Neto received the ball and sprinted into the penalty area before shooting, but his effort was saved by Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia.


In the 73rd minute, Pedro Neto played a through ball to Enzo, who then passed it across to Liam Delap, who fired a low shot into the net, extending Chelsea's lead to 3-0. In the 78th minute, Liam Delap's cross was cleared, and Enzo received a back pass from Estewan Willian before firing a low shot, but the ball was caught by Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia.


In the 81st minute, Barcelona launched an attack. Rafinha received a diagonal pass from his teammate in the penalty area and shot, but the ball was blocked by Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.


Chelsea ultimately secured a resounding 3-0 victory over Barcelona at home.
