The Boston Celtics recently signed a long-term contract extension with head coach Joe Mazzella, who said he is very grateful for the team's support and looks forward to continuing to fight for the team.
Joe Mazzella, 37, officially became the head coach of the Boston Celtics in February 2023. During his time as coach of the Boston Celtics, he led the team to win the NBA championship in the 2023/24 season. In addition, Joe Mazzella also became the youngest championship coach since Bill Russell in the 1968/69 season.
Joe Mazzella said, "I would not be where I am today without the support of my faith, my wife and children. I am grateful for the guidance of the team management and president Brad Stephens and the support of the coaching staff. Most importantly, I am grateful for the players I have had the opportunity to coach over the past three seasons, and I look forward to continuing to fight for the Celtics and the city of Boston."
It's worth mentioning that Joe Mazzella also admires the coaching style of Manchester City's Pep Guardiola. In a previous interview, Joe Mazzella shared, "I often study Guardiola, and he has a great influence on me. I think the similarity between basketball and football lies in the speed of transition between offense and defense."
"You can be on offense and then two seconds later you have to be on defense, so the tempo of the game is constantly changing. To me, no matter what sport it is, whether it's lacrosse, soccer or basketball, the fundamental elements of a one-on-one situation are the same."
On the other hand, the Celtics will travel to the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the preseason in October to prepare for the new season.
