Union Berlin announced on Monday that former Werder Bremen star Oliver Burke had joined the club as a free agent. As usual, the club did not disclose the length and specific details of the contract.

According to Bild, Burke has signed a four-year contract with Union Berlin, with his annual salary at Union Berlin being around 1.8 million euros, higher than the 1.02 million euros he earned at Werder Bremen.

Regarding Burke's joining, Horst Herdt, head of Berlin United's professional football department, commented: "Oliver has the qualities we have been looking for: speed, physical fitness, and the ability to decide the direction of the game at critical moments. His energy and willpower are a great fit for our team. We know his performance in the Bundesliga and believe that his experience and mentality will enhance the strength of our team."

The 28-year-old Burke mainly plays as a center forward, but can also play as a winger. He joined Nottingham Forest's youth training at the age of 8 and made his professional debut for the first team in the English League Cup on September 24, 2014.

Burke then moved to Bradford City, RB Leipzig, West Bromwich Albion, Celtic, Alaves, Sheffield United, Millwall, Birmingham City and other teams, and joined Werder Bremen as a free agent in July 2022. To date, he has made 46 appearances for Werder Bremen, scoring 8 goals and providing 1 assist.
