New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson said in an interview that he is ready to take on more responsibilities in the new season and give everything the team needs.

The 25-year-old Williamson, who is about to enter his seventh training camp with the New Orleans Pelicans, acknowledged the importance of the rigorous approach of new executive vice president of basketball operations Joe Dumars.

"He's going to hold me accountable and give me a lot of responsibility, which is exciting for me," Williamson said. "I know he's going to hold me to a very high standard, and if I stray, he's going to pull me back on track."

Since entering the NBA as the No. 1 pick in 2019, Williamson's talent is undeniable, but injuries have plagued him. He averages 24.7 points per game in his career, but has missed more games due to injury than he has played. He has yet to play in the playoffs. While the Pelicans made the playoffs twice in his absence, they were eliminated in the first round each time.

In response to the doubts, Williamson revealed that he had a conversation with Dumars and general manager Troy Weaver. He said: "They accepted me, and I told them I will not let you down. This helped me a lot because they really believed in me."

Williamson has been training intensely during the offseason, including boxing and strength and conditioning training on the football field. He described himself as someone who has truly felt a transformation in his body and thanked the team's performance director for his help.

"Greatness is about showing up every day and getting the job done even if you don't feel like it," Williamson said firmly. "Whatever the team needs me to do, that's what I'm going to do."
