Chelsea agree to sign Independiente del Valle's Ecuadorian defender wonderkid Deinner Ordóñez..

The Athletic's resident renowned English Chelsea team correspondent Liam Twomey exclusively reported on Tuesday that Chelsea have agreed to sign Independiente del Valle's Ecuador U20s international centre-back wonderkid Deinner Ordóñez.

According to Twomey, Ordóñez will officially join Chelsea in January 2028 after turning 18.

The Blues paid Independiente del Valle £13 million to sign Ordóñez, who has already signed on a long-term eight-year deal which runs until the summer of 2036.

Twomey added that Chelsea successfully hijacked Liverpool's bid for Ordóñez.

He revealed that Liverpool had been in close contact with Ordóñez' parents since April, but the player ultimately decided to reject Liverpool because his teammate Kendry Páez and his senior Moisés Caicedo had both become Chelsea players.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's established business relationship with Independiente del Valle in recent years gives them a significant advantage in the Ecuadorian player transfer market compared to other Premier League giants.

As mentioned above, Ordóñez will become the third Ecuadorian wonderkid to join Chelsea from Independiente del Valle in recent years, following Caicedo and Kendry Páez.

Besides Ordóñez and Páez, Chelsea will also welcome Corinthians wonderkid Denner Evangelista and Kairat Almaty wonderkid Dastan Satpayev in the coming years.

Sporting de Portugal's wonderkid Geovany Quenda will be joining Chelsea next summer.

About Deinner Ordóñez

Deinner Ordóñez, who is only still 16-year-old, was born on october 29, 2009, in Esmeraldas, Ecuador. He is 1.88 meters tall and plays as a centre-back.

Ordóñez joined Independiente del Valle's youth academy at a young age, began playing with their U17s team at 14 and being promoted to the Independiente del Valle U20s team at the end of last year.

In January of this year, Ordóñez, then just turned 15 year-old not long ago, was already being called-up to the Ecuador U21s national team, contributing significantly to their victory against Bolivia and Uruguay in the subsequent South American Youth Championship.

To date, Ordóñez has yet to make his first-team debut for the Ecuadorian Serie A powerhouse, but has frequently been on the substitutes' lists.
