Brentford forced Arsenal to a 1-1 draw on matchday 32 of the 2024/25 Premier League season at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

In the first half, Tierney's goal was ruled out, and Nørgaard's malicious flying tackle on Martinelli was only yellow-carded, which attracted boos from Arsenal's players, staff and fans. In the second half, Partey volleyed into the net, and Wissa scored a half-volley from close range. In the end, Brentford forced Arsenal to a 1-1 draw. After this round of games, the Gunners, who dropped points, continued to be second on the table with 63 points; the Bees temporarily rose to 11th on the table with 43 points.

It is worth mentioning that with this draw, Arsenal's remaining games have fallen into a must-win stage. Once leaders Liverpool wins West Ham United and Leicester City this week and next week; while the former loses points again, Liverpool can secure the Premier League title in advance next week.

First Half

In the 22nd minute, Bryan Mbuemo made a straight pass from the right side of the box. Kristoffer Ajer quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before volleying with his right foot from the right side of the box, but his shot was saved and blocked by David Raya's outstretched legs by the bottom right corner.

4 minutes later, Ethan Nwaneri crossed into the box from the right wing. Kieran Tierney rose high and scored with a header in the box. However, the VAR assistant referee intervened immediately. Under the identification of the VAR Semi-Automated Offside Technology System (SAOT), the refereeing team unanimously ruled that Tierney was caught offside, therefore the goal was ruled out!

Soon after, Gabriel Martinelli was maliciously tackled by Christian Nørgaard while dribbling on the left. The referee immediately issued a yellow card to the Brentford captain. However, due to dissatisfaction with the decision, Arsenal players, head coach Mikel Arteta, assistants and fans protested immediately. However, the referee insisted on not changing the decision, which once attracted the boos of Arsenal fans in the stadium!

In the 35th minute, William Saliba made a long pass from near the midfield center circle. After successfully beating the offside trap, Gabriel Martinelli quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before volleying from the center of the box, but his shot was blocked by Ajer.

6 minutes later, Leandro Trossard passes horizontally from the left wing. Declan Rice quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the left side of the box and before volleying with his left foot at a difficult angle, but his shot was saved by Mark Flekken.

In the 44th minute, Saliba made a straight pass from the front. Leandro Trossard quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before taking a long shot with his right foot from the edge of the penalty area, but his shot was saved by Flekken.

At the end of the first half, Arsenal and Brentford temporarily drew 0-0 and entered the half-time break.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued.  In the 61st minute, Arsenal made a deadly quick counterattack. Rice passes horizontally from the right wing. Thomas Partey quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before volleying the ball into the high center of the net with his right foot from the right side of the box a right-footed shot. Arsenal took the lead by breaking the deadlock first and taking a 1-0 lead!

In the 74th minute, Michael Kayode crossed from the edge of the byline on the right side of the box, Nathan Collins headed the ball across. Yoane Wissa quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, half-volleyed the ball into the high center of the net with his right foot at a very close distance in the box, leaving Raya out of reach. Brentford equalized Arsenal at 1-1! This was the DR Congo international striker's 16th goal in all competitions this season, and it was also the second consecutive year that he scored against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium!

2 minutes later, Flekken made a mistake while clearing the ball in his own penalty area. After successfully beating the offside trap, Bukayo Saka quickly followed up, intercepted, got the ball and took a few steps before he was ready to shoot the ball from the left side of the box. The ball was immediately blocked out by Kayode who returned to defend. Arsenal missed a golden opportunity to score another goal!

When the final whistle is blown, Arsenal was forced to a 1-1 draw by Brentford.
