Paris Saint-Germain defeated Marseille 4-1 on penalties in the 2025/26 Trophée des Champions at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium on Thursday.

In the first half, Dembélé scored by chipping over the goalkeeper. In the second half, Greenwood converted a penalty. Pacho scored an own goal. In a crucial moment, substitute Ramos volleyed home from close range. During the penalty shootout, O'Riley and Traoré's attempts were saved by Chevalier, before Doué converted the final penalty. Ultimately, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Marseille 4-1 on penalties to secure their fourth consecutive title.

First Half

In the 7th minute, Marseille won a corner. Emerson took the corner by crossing it into the box, where Leonardo Balerdi rose high and attempted with a header in a very close distance in the box, however his effort was saved by Lucas Chevalier.

Six minutes later, Paris Saint-Germain launched a deadly counter-attack. Emerson misplaced a back pass in his own back half, allowing Vitinha to intercept and deliver a through ball from the right flank. After beating the offside trap and quickly following up, Ousmane Dembélé got the ball and took a few steps, before skillfully chipping the ball into the empty net with his left foot past the outrushing Gerónimo Rulli from the right side of the box. Paris Saint-Germain broke the deadlock early, taking a 1-0 lead! This was the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner's sixth goal in all competitions this season!

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 56th minute, Amine Gouiri crossed into the box from the left wing. Paixão rose high and attempted with a header in the box. However his effort was parried and cleared off not far away by Chevalier. Benjamin Pavard quickly followed up and upon picking up the loose ball, took a right-footed follow-up shot from a very close distance in the box, but his shot was saved by Chevalier.

One minute later, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg made a straight pass from the left wing. Amine Gouiri quickly followed up, got the ball and cuts inside before volleywing with his right foot from the left side of the box, but his shot was saved by Chevalier.

In the 74th minute, Mason Greenwood dribbled into the left side of the box and was brought down by the outrushing Chevalier. The referee immediately awarded Marseille a penalty. Greenwood took the penalty himself and converted with his right foot, pulling a goal back for Marseille against Paris Saint-Germain at 1-1! This was the former Manchester United striker's 16th goal in all competitions this season!

13 minutes later, Hamed Traoré crossed into the box from the left wing, which was deflected into his own net by Willian Pacho, Marseille came from behind to lead 1-2 over Paris Saint-Germain!

Bradley Barcola headed the ball across, before Gonçalo Ramos quickly followed up, and half-volleyed the ball into the bottom half of the net with his right foot from a very close distance in the from box upon receiving the pass, leveling the score at 2-2 for PSG at the crucial from moment!

The match then went into penalty shootout.

The penalty shootout began, with Ramos scoring first; Matt O'Riley's left-footed shot was saved by Chevalier.

Vitinha's right-footed shot was deflected by Rulli but still found the back of the net; Hamed Traoré's right-footed shot was saved by Chevalier.

Nuno Mendes and Amir Murillo then converted their penalties, bringing the score to Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 Marseille.

On the final penalty, Désiré Doué converted with his right foot, sealing the victory.

When the final whistle is blown, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Marseille 4-1 on penalties, winning their the Trophée des Champions for the 14th time in its club history.
