The third round of the 2025/26 English League Cup continued with Manchester City defeating Huddersfield Town 2-0 away from home with goals from Foden and Savio.

Nine minutes into the match, Manchester City launched an attack. Oscar Bob dribbled into the penalty area and dealt with a series of defensive passes. Mukasa recovered the ball in the scramble and volleyed it, but it was blocked by the opposing player. In the 18th minute, Mukasa passed it to Foden, who broke through to the top of the penalty area and fired a long shot into the net, giving Manchester City a 1-0 lead.

In the 28th minute, Manchester City got a free kick, Foden took the penalty and shot directly, but the ball went over the goal. In the 31st minute, Manchester City continued to create offensive opportunities. Mukasa got the ball and shot from outside the penalty area, but the ball hit the opponent and went wide of the goal.

In the 37th minute, Foden lobbed a pass into the penalty area, Rico Lewis followed up and made a cross, but no teammates stepped forward in time to create a threat. In the 40th minute, Huddersfield Town tried to counterattack, Redmond shook off the defense and made a cross, Sean Logan took the ball and shot but missed.

In the first half stoppage time, Stones passed the ball and Rico Lewis was brought down by the opponent when he stepped forward to receive the ball.

In the 47th minute of the second half, Savio organized an attack and Nico O'Reilly passed the ball to the front of the goal. Mukasa then shot at the goal, but the ball was intercepted by Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Nicholls. In the 53rd minute, Nico Gonzalez passed the ball directly into the penalty area. Nico O'Reilly received the ball and shot, but it was blocked by Nicholls.

In the 60th minute, Oscar Bob's cross was cleared, and Mukasa volleyed in the penalty area, but the ball was caught by Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Nicholls. In the 65th minute, Huddersfield Town attacked with a free kick, and Murray Wallace headed the ball but it went high.

In the 70th minute, Huddersfield Town attacked again. Castleday received the ball and shot from outside the penalty area, but it went wide. In the 74th minute, Foden in the penalty area dealt with a diagonal pass, which Savio met and shot. The ball then hit the post and bounced into the goal, helping Manchester City maintain their lead over Huddersfield Town at 2-0.

In the 82nd minute, Savio passed the ball back to Nico Gonzalez, who took the ball and shot from a distance, but the ball went over the post. In the 88th minute, Cameron Arcia took a cross from his teammate and took a few steps before taking a long shot, but the ball hit the post.

In the end, Manchester City eliminated Huddersfield Town 2-0 away.
