Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde was pleased with his team's 100% win record, but admitted his own sending-off was embarrassing. He praised his team's performance in their 2-1 victory over Real Betis at La Cartuja, securing all three points.
The win lifted Athletic Bilbao into second place in the table, tied for first place with Real Madrid, and also meant they have won all three of their La Liga matches this season.
After the game, Ernesto Valverde said: "We are very happy with these victories. The team gave their all and tried to stop the opponent's attacks so that we can play better. It's a good start and I am very satisfied with it."
"Despite that, I think these games are very intense. The team has to fight hard and use various tactics. Although we didn't win early today, we finally won in a close game. It only takes a spark to go from controlling the game to completely losing control, and that's what happened."
Regarding being sent off in stoppage time, the head coach said: "I protested against something in a way that perhaps I shouldn't have and was sent off. I will be more careful next time."
