Leicester City's 2-0 home win over Ipswich Town in the Premier League was the 500th game for veteran Jamie Vardy and also his last game for Leicester City.
In the 28th minute of the game, Vardy received a through ball from James Justin and dribbled past the goalkeeper to score his 200th goal for Leicester. 500 appearances, 200 goals, all came to a complete success on the 13th anniversary of Vardy joining Leicester City.
Before the game, the King Power Stadium was already packed. The blue and white flags were printed with the same words: "Thank You, Vards", and the fans expressed their respect in the most direct way. In the stands, familiar faces from the 2016 Premier League champion team also appeared, and everyone came to bid farewell to Vardy.
In the summer of 2012, Vardy joined Leicester City from fifth-tier Fleetwood Town for £1 million, becoming the 1,051st player to appear for the club. No one could have predicted that he would become one of the most dramatic legends in English football history.
In the 13 years since Vardy debuted, he has not only frightened opponents with his speed and calmness, but also moved fans with his passion and loyalty. Vardy's celebration style, his "fearless" attitude, and his standing up in the most difficult moments have become one of Leicester City's most distinctive symbols.
At the final whistle, Vardy walked onto the field accompanied by his family and accepted the exclusive tribute channel. He received a golden fox trophy, a photo album recording his career, and was awarded the title of "Best Player" of the season.
As a finale, Vardy walked to the microphone and expressed his sincere gratitude to the fans: "From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for treating me and my family as your own. I hope I deserve this love."
