Leicester City's Jordan Ayew is pleased with his start to pre-season but remains humble, after all, his lone goal in the game against SV Schalegskiy was a huge win.  

Speaking of the team's unbeaten pre-season performance, the 33-year-old was enthusiastic that there is still a lot of work to be done. Since Marty Cifuentes joined the team a few days ago, the hard preparations have just begun .  

New manager Matí Cifuentes will have three weeks to perfect his tactical setup before the Sky Bet Champions League opener against Sheffield Wednesday and Jordan Ayew hopes to use the adjustment period wisely.  

Jordan Ayew said: “So far, everything has gone well. We have worked very hard from the beginning and have been moving towards the coach's goals. It is not perfect yet, but that is what pre-season is about. We will make sure we are fully prepared for the game against Sheffield Wednesday.”  

“From a tactical point of view, they are very deep and compact, which poses a challenge for us. However, we will face similar situations many times during the tournament and we will have to find a way to deal with them. With time and the guidance of the coach, the team's tempo will gradually increase.”  

Although Leicester City took the initiative in the game, Jordan Ayew's goal in the second half was the only difference at the ZTE Arena. The striker admitted that sometimes it does take some brute force to break through the defense.  

He said: "As a striker, sometimes you have to force a breakthrough, which is what I have been working on. I feel that the team sometimes lacks enough initiative. Although we often organize attacks near the penalty area, we don't have enough shooting opportunities. Fortunately, I managed to score a goal today."  

“I have always been confident and positive both on the pitch as a player and as a person. The purpose of pre-season is to build that confidence, but I remain humble and calm and continue to work hard to get ready for the new season.”  

Jordan Ayew has spoken of the positive impact the new Spanish head coach has had in his early days in charge and expressed his expectation to learn more as the coach gradually integrates his tactical style into the team.  

He added: "We have a very good impression of coach Marty Cifuentes, but after all, it has only been a few days and we need more time to get to know him better, to help him understand us better and also to make us more clear about his coaching philosophy."
