Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Alex Scott will miss the Premier League match against Manchester City and outlined his current recovery progress.
The midfielder suffered a broken jaw in Bournemouth's last game against Aston Villa after a collision with an opponent. Just seven minutes into the game, Alex Scott fell to the ground in a collision with Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings, failed to continue the game and was substituted at halftime.
"Regarding Alex Scott's situation, we are not sure yet," said Andoni Iraola. "He has gone to a place where he has custom-made masks to minimize the risk."
"His recovery will depend on his fitness. The surgery went very well, he looks very good and he is recovering at full capacity. However, he will definitely not be available against Manchester City."
When asked about Alex Scott's return time, Andoni Iraola said: "At the moment I can't confirm it, but it's definitely not the Manchester City game. I think it's almost impossible for him to play, but I don't completely rule it out. He is trying to wear a mask, but I think it will be very difficult for him."
"He has a strong will and is showing great courage. This is a positive sign that he is maintaining a positive attitude and we will continue to monitor his recovery progress. Although he has not yet resumed training, at least he is in a good mood and full of optimism."
