Borussia Dortmund announced on its official website on Wednesday that Chelsea's young Argentina U20s international defender Aarón Anselmino has joined the club on-loan.

According to the Bundesliga powerhouse's official statement, Anselmino will play for the club on-loan until the end of the season, with no option to buy. He will also wear the number 28 jersey, which was vacated after Belgium international midfielder Axel Witsel had left the club.

Anselmino's arrival will provide a welcome relief to the club's defense, which has been plagued by injuries to Niklas Süle and captain Emre Can, who have been sidelined for several months.

After completing his joining procedures, Anselmino, who was interviewed by the Borussia Dortmund official website for the first time, said: "Eight months ago, I was in Argentina, then went to England to join Chelsea. Now I'm very happy to be here. I'm very happy about this step. I've heard a lot of good things about the Borussia Dortmund fans and the size of the club. So, I'm very happy and looking forward to it."

Anselmino, who is only 20 years old, was born on April 29, 2005, in Bernardo Larroudé, Argentina. He is 1.88 meters tall and plays as a center back.

Anselmino joined Boca Juniors' youth academy at the age of 12 and completed his Boca Juniors first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in June 2023.

In August 2024, Anselmino joined Chelsea for £15.6 million but was immediately loaned back to Boca Juniors until his loan expires in January.

Since becoming a member of the Blues, Anselmino has only played once for the Premier League giants in all competitions, without scoring a goal or assisting, and has won the FIFA Club World Cup once with the club.
