World Cup Qualifiers - Keane scores as Italy defeats Estonia 3-1


The 2026 World Cup European qualifiers Group I ushered in the 7th round of competition. Italy, who played away, defeated Estonia 3-1 with goals from Kean, Retegui and Pio Esposito.


Three minutes into the match, Italy created an attacking opportunity when Raspadori volleyed the ball from the penalty area, but the ball was saved by Estonian goalkeeper Karl Hein. Italy then continued to create attacking opportunities. Raspadori stopped the ball and volleyed it, but it was blocked by Estonian goalkeeper Karl Hein. In the 62nd minute, Italy replaced Raspadori and Orsolini with Spinazzola and Cambiasso.


In the 71st minute, Spinazzola received the ball and entered the penalty area, but the ball was cleared and Estonian goalkeeper Karl Hein immediately grabbed it. In the 74th minute, Spinazzola received a pass from Tonali and passed it to Pio Esposito in the penalty area, who scored with a low shot, helping Italy extend their lead to 3-0.


In the 76th minute, Markus Sonmec passed the ball from the left, but Italian goalkeeper Donnarumma dropped the ball, and Sapinen immediately volleyed it in, helping Estonia to tie the game 1-3. In the 88th minute, Italy got a free kick, and Dimarco took the penalty, but it was blocked by Estonian goalkeeper Karl Hein.


In the end, Italy defeated Estonia 3-1 away from home. After achieving four consecutive victories, Italy currently ranks second in the Group I standings with 12 points.
