Burnley announced on its official website Thursday that the club has signed Slovakia international goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka and French defensive midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu from Newcastle United and Chelsea, respectively.

According to Burnley's official statement, Dúbravka has signed on a short-term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2026, while Ugochukwu has signed on a long-term five-year deal which runs until the summer of 2030. Dubravka will wear the No. 1 jersey.

After completing the joining procedures, Dúbravka who was interviewed by the Burnley official website for the first time, said: "I'm delighted to be here. It's exciting to be joining this club ahead of our return to the Premier League."

"I've heard nothing but positive things about the club, its culture and the working environment, so I'm looking forward to the new season starting next weekend."

"Burnley had a fantastic season last season and an excellent defensive record. I can't wait to join this exciting-looking team and contribute my experience and quality."

About Martin Dúbravka

Martin Dúbravka, 36, was born on January 15, 1989, in Žilina, Slovakia. He is 1.9 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Dubravka joined the youth academy of his hometown club, Žilina, at a young age and completed his Žilina first-team debut in July 2009.

During his five-year spell at Žilina, Dubravka won two Slovakian Superliga titles and one Slovak Super Cup with the club.

At the end of January 2014, Dúbravka joined Esbjerg.

At the end of July 2016, Dúbravka joined Liberec.

The following July, Dúbravka joined Sparta Prague on a free transfer. During which, his impressive league performances quickly attracted the attention of several major clubs.

On the 2018 January winter transfer window deadline day, Dúbravka joined Newcastle United on-loan with an option to buy. His rights were later purchased permanently by the Magpies in May of the same year.

On the 2023 summer transfer window deadline day, Dúbravka joined Manchester United on-loan with an option to buy. However, during his time with the Red Devils, he only played in two Carabao Cup matches.

During his time at the Magpies, Dúbravka made 179 appearances in all competitions for the new Premier League giants, conceding 242 goals, keeping 54 clean sheets, and winning the Carabao Cup once with the club.

About Lesley Ugochukwu

Born in Rennes, France on March 26, 2004, Lesley Ugochukwu, 1.90 meters tall, plays as a defensive midfielder and holds dual French and Nigerian citizenship.

Ugochukwu joined the youth academy of his hometown club, Rennes, at the age of eight and completed his Rennes first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in April 2021.

In August 2023, Ugochukwu joined Chelsea for £23.1 million but fell out of favour six months later.

Last August, Ugochukwu was loaned-out to Southampton. During which, the club was relegated due to the entire team's poor overall performances.

During his time with the Blues, Ugochukwu only played 15 times for Chelsea in all competitions and did not score any goals or make any assists.
