Cagliari announced on Wednesday that Fabio Pisana will replace Davide Nicola as the first team coach from today. The two parties signed a contract until June 30, 2026, and the contract will be automatically extended for one year if the set goals are achieved.
After completing the signing, Pisana said: "No one can achieve everything alone. This year must be a year of unity: the team, coaching staff, club, fans and the entire city. Only with unity can we cope with all difficulties and turn them into opportunities. The more difficult the times and the more complicated the situation, the more the power of unity can be truly revealed. Step by step, we move forward together."
The 39-year-old Pisana was born in Naples, Italy, and played for Cagliari for six seasons. He played 153 times for Cagliari, scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists, and the main team achieved the goal of relegation for five consecutive years.
After retiring in 2022, Pisana chose to become a coach. He initially served as a technical coach at Cagliari and has been in charge of the U19 team since July 2023. As of this promotion, Pisana has led Cagliari U19 to seventh place in the Italian Youth League for two consecutive seasons and won the first Italian Youth Cup in the team's history this season.
