Augsburg is about to embark on a busy week with three home matches. The first match will be on Saturday at the Fugstadt Stadium against RB Leipzig, second in the Bundesliga standings. Following their previous 3-1 victory over Wolfsburg and a 1-1 away draw with Cologne, Augsburg will face a daunting challenge. RB Leipzig currently holds a comfortable second place in the standings with 16 points.
Sandro Wagner said: "RB Leipzig's games are fast-paced and the players have outstanding individual abilities. We train and analyze our opponents every week and have developed a defensive strategy to create difficulties for them."
Besides Saturday's match, Augsburg's schedule remains packed. The team will face Bochum at home in the second round of the DFB Cup on Wednesday, and then face Borussia Dortmund the following Saturday. However, Sandro Wagner stated that the team's full attention is currently focused on the upcoming match against RB Leipzig. "We are only focusing on RB Leipzig right now," he said. "We are completely focused on Saturday's match."
Geoffrey Houveleu will remain sidelined. The defender recently partially resumed team training, but has been forced to reduce his intensity this week due to a knee injury. On a positive note, Elvis Rexbekayi has overcome a back injury and is now back in action.
