Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about Nico Aurelli in an interview, expressing his delight at the midfielder's debut for the England national team and his hope that Aurelli would remain humble and not lose his way.

In last week's 2026 World Cup European qualifiers, 20-year-old Nico Aurelli made his England senior national team debut at Wembley Stadium against Serbia, playing the full 90 minutes from the starting lineup, and also played the full 90 minutes in the subsequent match against Albania.

Speaking about Nico Aureli, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said, "I'm really happy for him and hope he continues to be humble and doesn't lose his way. Because sometimes at this age, when you've just reached the highest level and are playing for the national team, this can happen, so I hope he can stay consistent."

Furthermore, Manchester City will travel to Newcastle to face them in the 12th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season. Currently, Manchester City sits in second place with 22 points, four points behind leaders Arsenal.

Guardiola stated that Norwegian midfielder Oscar Bob remains one of Manchester City's key players. Guardiola said, "Sometimes his playing time is affected by competition within the team, or because our playing styles are slightly different, but I have a very high opinion of him. He performed well in the first few games of the season, and his defensive work and high pressing were excellent. Once he can open up on the pitch, I know he can do even more."

“He has played very well in the recent games for the Norwegian national team. I missed him a lot last season, and he will continue to help us. He will get better and better, and he will perform very well when he is on the field.”

Guardiola added, "Although he participated in the preseason last season, he was injured afterwards, so this is the first time he has really gotten more playing time in a team of Manchester City's caliber."
