Everton Football Club announced that midfielder Callum Bates has signed a new two-year contract with the team, which will last until June 2027. Callum Bates has joined the club's youth training system since the age of 11, and has gradually gained a foothold in the U21 echelon with continuous progress, and signed his first professional contract with Everton in 2022.  

The 19-year-old played 17 Premier League Group 2 games for Paul Tait’s side last season and was involved in Liverpool Under-21s’ semi-final and final of the County FA Senior Cup, while also appearing in a number of competitions including the Premier League Cup and EFL Trophy.  

In the past season, Callum Bates twice entered the Everton first team's matchday lineup and was on standby as a substitute in the Premier League games against West Ham United and Brentford in November 2024. Callum Bates has now returned to the team to participate in the U21 team's pre-season training and will focus on the new season's games and personal growth.  

Callum Bates said: "I'm very happy to sign a new contract and I can't wait to meet the challenges of the new season. Last season was a positive season for me and I also got the opportunity to participate in the first team's match day list, which helped me grow a lot. The pace and intensity of the adult team's games are obviously higher than that of the U21s. I know I need to adapt to this environment as soon as possible."  

“It’s inevitable to be a little nervous at the beginning, but once you get into the game, the nervousness will disappear. In the U21 season, we performed well and successfully qualified for the Premier League International Cup. This team is very strong as a whole, and the new players are also very good. They are ready to go all out in training.”  

"The team's goal is to do our best to achieve good results in the cup and league. Personally, I hope to be able to fight for a place in the first team. If I fail to do so, I will also consider going to other teams on loan to gain first-team experience."
